Matha’s Vineyard Bike Paths

West Chop Loop

A short and scenic route through Vineyard Haven out to West Chop lighthouse and back through Main St. and Franklin St.

East Chop Drive

Short ride through Oak Bluffs just over the town line to Vineyard Haven. Use caution as the route goes through heavily trafficked roadway.

Edgartown to Vineyard Haven

Edgartown to Vineyard Haven bike path runs parallel alongside the road that takes vehicles to Vineyard Haven.

Oak Bluffs to Edgartown

One of the most popular paths on the island. The route provides a beautiful view of the ocean, crosses over the famous Jaws Bridge. Use caution as the route can narrow in places and is often sandy from windblown sand.

Edgartown to South Beach

A scenic loop beginning in Edgartown proper and takes travelers down to South Beach and Katama Beach.

State Forest Loops

4 miles outside Edgartown and 5 miles from Oak Bluffs, this bike path goes along Edgartown/West Tisbury Road, Old Country Road, and Barnes Road and takes riders through the State Forest where riders can enjoy a beautiful scenery and rolling hills. Much of this path is unpaved road.

Up Island Route

Chilmark, Aquinnah & West Tisbury do not have a dedicated bike path uniting the towns. The route above provides riders with a makeshift tour of the Up Island towns but does require that cyclists share the road with moving vehicles and advises caution as the road can narrow in places.

West Tisbury to Vineyard Haven

This route takes ‘the scenic route’ from West Tisbury to Vineyard Haven through Lamberts Cove Road.
